5 Shoe Types to Keep Your Feet Flat on the Ground

5 Shoe Types to Keep Your Feet Flat on the Ground

The weather in the UK often dictates over fashion choices and with winter arriving a bit later than expected and ensuring it overstays its welcome, a pair of flat boots are a wardrobe essential that will carry you through until the end of the April showers.

When it comes to boots, it’s always handy to have a staple, slightly more expensive, reliable pair and complimented with maybe one or two cheaper pairs in various colours. No need to go running out and going wild in the shoe shops. Footwear is easy to build on and the right choices will mean comfort, practicality and more money in your pocket.

The flat boot of choice that is on trend, and not looking to disappear anytime soon, is the Chelsea boot. Black, brown, suede, leather or even animal print. There is no limit to the options with these. Even the famous wellington boot brand, Hunter have designed a colourful range. Practical and fun.

Of course, flat boots don’t need to be plain and whether you choose a colour, animal print or detailing, the high street and online retailers have something for everyone. A good way of ‘jazzing up’' a flat boot is to look for something with detailing, such as buckles.

It doesn’t mean that you need to adopt a biker chick look, there are a whole selection of great, comfortable boots with buckle detail that still look ladylike, and will work well with jeans, leggings or even dresses.

Keeping your boots flat doesn’t mean you can’t go for height elsewhere. Knee high boots are great for winter walks and are a great alternative to welly boots. They are fab for Mums that like to wear skirts or who need something practical for the school run before heading to work.

Knee high, riding style boots look great over skinny jeans and worn with a comfy jumper and Mac. Perfect for when it’s raining and wet trousers are not an option.

At some point in our lives we have all most likely owned a pair of Dr Martins or Timberland boots. These styles of boots are very much style in fashion and offer a practical and hard wearing solution.

Great for all weather and perfect for pulling on quickly on the way out the door, these are a wardrobe staple for busy Mums who want comfort, style and a pair of boots that won’t let the water in when they are carrying the kids back to the car. Of course, it doesn’t need to be Doc Martins.

There’s a great selection of lace up style boots out there with a ‘softer’ look if that is what you prefer.

A trend that some people live in and hope to never see the back of is the high top trainer. Not boots exactly but a great alternative if you prefer a sportier, easy going look. White, black, floral, animal print or a good burst of colour are all options with this style.

Love them or hate them, they are great with a pair of jeans, leather jacket and a chunky knit scarf for a relaxed, stylish look that will ensure comfort and make it much easier when you’re in a hurry.

There’s no set rule when it comes to flat boots. They are always on trend and can be as plain or bold as you want them to be. When comfort is what you seek, these are your best friends. Happy shopping!
